SWEENEY is a Chicago bar band with no interest in acting like one. We play the songs everybody knows, loud — street festivals, block parties, fundraisers, ballpark-adjacent plazas. If your event needs a band that treats every gig like a headlining slot, that's us. THE SWEENEY SISTERS were first. Everyone else just rents the name.

Who Is SWEENEY

Like the Ramones, everybody in this band has one name: SWEENEY. It's an honor. It's a privilege. (There is no application process. There probably should be.)

They were SWEENEY before SWEENEY was SWEENEY.

Bill SWEENEY

Bill is his actual name. He didn't choose the SWEENEY life; it was on his birth certificate.

Capt. Jack SWEENEY

The “Capt.” is silent. It is not. He legally changed his middle name to Jack. His first name was already Jack.

Bronco SWEENEY

Part man, part myth, zero percent horse. The percentages were independently verified.

Dr. Mick SWEENEY

The only member who can read music. He chooses not to, out of respect for the rest of us.

John Paul SWEENEY

On loan from Dead Ellyn. The loan has no return date.

Lips SWEENEY

Plays sax. Only drinks champagne.
